Deserta Shares the Latest Installment off his Forthcoming "Goodbye Vista"

Deserta, the LA-based solo project of Matthew Doty (Saxon Shore, Midnight Faces) is today sharing a new single, "Goodbye Vista" which comes as another delightful installment of his forthcoming second album, Every Moment, Everything You Need which is out via Felte (Ganser, Ashley Shadow) on February 25, 2022. The new single follows the recently released singles, "I'm So Tired" and "Lost in the Weight" which found fans at Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD, KEXP and more.

Mixed by David Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, Flaming Lips, Mogwai), engineered by Chris Coady (TV On The Radio, Amen Dunes, Slowdive) with drums provided by James McAliser (collaborations include Taylor Swift, Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, The National, Big Red Machine, et al). "Goodbye Vista" leaves off from where "I'm So Tired" left us, further demonstrating Doty's ability for harnessing vast swathes of guitar and dense, introspective soundscapes reminiscent of Slowdive, Mogwai, Ride, etc. Musically this one rings in with distant guitars before erupting into something much larger, ebbing and flowing with swells of noise towards the end. When discussing "Goodbye Vista," Doty explains: "While writing this album I tried to balance the idea of putting myself out there a little more with the consideration that these songs would need to be performed live, loud and with a full band. The vocal melodies are some of the most vulnerable performance-wise, but the chorus just wasn’t the same without that lift."

Doty's time as part of the Philadelphia-based post-rock group, Saxon Shore found him release five albums and an EP, founding the group with former bandmate, Josh Tillman (Father John Misty). Since then, he went on to form Midnight Faces, earning acclaim at SPIN, The AV Club, Consequence, VICE and more before releasing solo material under the Deserta moniker in 2020.
